I was attempting something similar, and realized that the depth of field concerns could be minimized by shooting from a greater distance with a longer lens.

Hi bro! Glad you worked on it as you were new to the blender but it could have been easier for you if you converted that footage into image sequence and tracked in Nuke or any other 3D software as per your choice and imported that track data on the camera of 3D software (blender, maya) and all you had to do then was just to align your 3D model once. Or if you wanted to do it more professionally then like hollywood or bollywood then I would recommend you using Nuke for it. It would have helped you better compositing the 3D model otherwise the method I mentioned above could also be used for a decent basic effect. But it would have worked well as you worked hard on the shooting process, wearing that makeup and prop. Good job mate!
